Urinalysis in Space - performing urine tests and analyzing the results in real-time in the Space Station
Healty.io
As space missions get longer and more common, the astronauts are going to need a range of diagnostic tools to supervise their bodily functions, including urine tests. Urinalysis is a standard method for examining various health conditions - anything from metabolic processes to kidney function.
Kidney function in space is an issue which has been researched. This being said, previous studies involved capturing urine in space and its examination back on Earth. The proposal focuses on performing an ACR test - Albumin-Creatinine Ratio - a urine tests in space, enabling the astronauts to measure their kidney functions independently and in real time.
